What it is

Drawing the eight pointed star of Islamic geometric art. Proposed on 6 August 2026, when the Science Fair theme was settled as space.

A light activity. One of two that may be dropped if there are not enough volunteers, so it is on the board as a possible activity rather than a confirmed station.

• Its subject belongs to the venue. The eight pointed star is a form of Islamic geometric art and the fair is at East London Mosque, so the construction is worth getting right rather than approximating.
• Nobody has asked the mosque whether they would rather run it, or check it.
• The method is a construction, and it is not written. Template, or compass and ruler, or folding: each decides the materials, the age floor and how long one takes.
• It sits close to Nature's Engineers — also paper, also pattern, also geometry a child can pick up. Whether they are two stations or one table is worth deciding before both are staffed.
• Nothing else is written. No quantities, and no print specification for a template that may not exist.
